Retold::Sunday School Stories You Thought You Knew::In Prison

NOTES:

Sing to the LORD a new song; sing to the LORD, all the earth. Sing to the LORD, praise his name; proclaim his salvation day after day.

Psalm 96:12 (NIV)

Sing praises to God, sing praises; sing praises to our King, sing praises. Psalm 47:6 (NIV)

About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them. Suddenly there was such a violent earthquake that the foundations of the prison were shaken. At once all the prison doors flew open, and everyones chains came loose. The jailer woke up, and when he saw the prison doors open, he drew his sword and was about to kill himself because he thought the prisoners had escaped. But Paul shouted, Dont harm yourself! We are all here! Acts 16:26-28 (NIV)

HOW DO WE DEVELOP A HEART THAT SINGS?

1. REMIND YOURSELF OF WHAT GOD HAS DONE.

Let all that I am praise the Lord; may I never forget the good things he does for me. Psalm 103:2 (NLT)

2. REMIND YOURSELF WHO GOD IS.

Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!

Philippians 4:4 (NIV)
