Encounters - Part Two - The Rich Young Ruler

NOTES:

Question for the day: Do we really TRUST God?

Looking at the man, Jesus felt genuine love for him. There is still one thing you havent done, he told him. Go and sell all your possessions and give the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me. At this the mans face fell, and he went away sad, for he had many possessions.

Mark 10:21-22 (NLT)

Three reasons God is worthy of our TRUST.

  1. His HISTORY - Psalm 119:90 - Your faithfulness extends to every generation, as enduring as the earth you created.
  2. His LOVE - James 1:17 - Whatever is good and perfect is a gift coming down to us from God our Father.
  3. His WISDOM - Romans 11:33 - Oh, how great are Gods riches and wisdom and knowledge!

Trust-Test - Answer these questions honestly:

1. Am I willing to do whatever God says in Scripture, whether I agree with it or not? Y/N

2. Am I willing to accept anything God sends, anything that happens in that area, whether I understand it or not? Y/N

3. Am I willing to say Yes and obey whenever God asks me to do something that makes me really uncomfortable? Y/N

BOTTOM LINE: The LIFE youve always WANTED is on the other side of TRUSTING Jesus.

CHALLENGE: Fill in the blank: One thing you lack, _________________, then come follow me
