I've Always Wondered - Week Three

Matthew 6:7-13

When you pray, don’t babble like the Gentiles, since they imagine they’ll be heard for their many words. Don’t be like them, because your Father knows the things you need before you ask him.

“Therefore, you should pray like this:

Our Father in heaven,
your name be honored as holy.
Your kingdom come.
Your will be done
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
And do not bring us into temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one.

Why aren't our prayers answered?

Four (but not limited to) possibilities:

  1. We have unconfessed sin in our lives. -Isaiah 59:2
  2. We have the wrong motives. -James 4:3
  3. We have broken relationships. -Mark 11:24-25
  4. God has something different for you. -2 Corinthians 12:7-10

Bottom Line:

Prayer isn't how we get what we want, it's how we get to know God.

Challenge:

The Prayer 4 - write down four things you are praying for.
