All I Want for Christmas - Week One
NOTES:
Luke 2:25-38 — Simeon and Anna’s Story
Hope is about choosing to see how things COULD work out,
in spite of a lack of evidence things WILL get better
Hope Defined: a confident EXPECTATION in God himself.
I wait for the LORD, my whole being waits, and in his word I put my hope. I wait for the Lord more than watchmen wait for the morning, more than watchmen wait for the morning. Israel, put your hope in the LORD, for with the LORD is unfailing love and with him is full redemption. Psalm 130.5–7 (NIV)
HOW DO WE DEVELOP HOPE?
1. Look FORWARD by looking BACKWARD (REMEMBER)
2. WRITE STUFF DOWN! (WRITING ANCHORS THE SOUL)
3. EMBRACE THE WAIT. (RELEASE CONTROL)
This vision-message is a witness pointing to what’s coming. It aches for the coming—it can hardly wait! And it doesn’t lie. If it seems slow in coming, wait. It’s on its way. It will come right on time. Habakkuk 2:3 (The Message)
BOTTOM LINE: God’s faithfulness in the PAST gives us HOPE for the future.
THE CHALLENGE: Take a trip down memory lane – RECORD God’s faithfulness in your life.
